The Schuco brand was founded in 1912 in Nuremberg by Heinrich Müller and Heinrich Schreyer. In 1936, Schuco began producing high-quality sheet metal toys with many innovative features. In the 1950s and 1960s, the company introduced plastic model cars and several Die-cast ranges.
In 1969, a series of 1:66 scale, and in 1971 a series of 1/43 scale models were released.
In 1976, Schuco went bankrupt. After the new owner became bankrupt in 1980, Gama took over the company in 1981 and proposed re-issues of the old Schuco toys,
In 1993, Gama-Schuco combined with TRIX, and the Schuco brand was reused for the Die-cast 1:43 scale models line.
In 1996, Schuco became independent again and saw a revival in producing a wide variety of collectible models, with many newly designed castings, but many being exact replicas of earlier lines.
In 1999, Schuco was acquired by the Simbe Dickie Group. In the 2000s, changes in the parent company caused the name to change to Dickie Spielzeug GmbH, and Schuco's name was used as a brand name.
In 2021, Simba Dickie acquired a stake in the Minimax Import & Export Co. Ltd (Brands: Spark Models, LookSmart, TSM-Model, Bizarre, MileziM); as a result, in 2023, the Schuco brand was integrated into the joint car group.
