The Mercedes-Benz W201, also known as the 190 saloon, is without doubt one of the most successful models in the history of Mercedes-Benz. Its compact dimensions, low weight and increased economy made it one of the most sought-after saloons in the compact class. On December 8, 1982, it was eagerly awaited by the public and the trade press. The Type 190 had a carburetor engine, which was throttled from 109 hp to 90 hp by reducing the size of the intake and exhaust ports and using a new camshaft and modified valves. The 190 E, on the other hand, was equipped with a newly developed variant with fuel injection.
