Some information about this collector.

The avid owner of this extensive military collection was a colorful military soldier in his own right. His military obsession began as a young child in London who was sent to the country away from his parents and family for safety during WWII with the Operation Pied Piper Program that was started in 1939. This obviously left a life long impression on this young mind.He joined the British Army at a young age and after 8 years decided he wanted a little bit more adventure so he joined the New Zealand Army. He thought his tour to New Zealand would be his excuse to, "See the World." Unfortunately, he was assigned a position right there in London working along side a high ranking General. After 2 years of not starting his journey to see New Zealand he left the New Zealand Army. Low and behold he saw a John Wayne Military movie and decided that he needed to come to the United States. Hence, he bought a one - way ticket to New York City and upon landing went straight to the Marine Recruitment Center and proceeded to tell them, " I was in the British and New Zealand Army and now I am here to help you guys out!"He volunteered for two tours in Vietnam and enjoyed many exciting tours in his 20 years with the Marines.Through the courtesy of the U S Marines, he finally realized his lifelong passion to, "See The World."Even in retirement he had the desire to help his fellow man. He ended his long Military Career of Honor, Courage and Commitment by becoming a Police Officer for a small town in Louisiana. What a guy!

***** This will be packed very carefully, but the bubble tops on this era of vehicles will crack and break at the slightest touch. I am unable to guarantee that additional breakage of this bubble top will not occur. The box base and bus are mint condition. I have 2 identical models of this bus, only difference is degree of bubble top damage. Let me know if you are interested in both.

The real damage is to the original clamshell top with has begun to yellow and become brittle with pieces missing from top and sides. This is a common design flaw with the plastic tops and was discarded for the more favorable window box in later years. The original tabs are still present and still lock the clam shell top onto the base. The base has survived very well with very little wear visible. Most shell tops become quite fragile and crack, break and crumble over the years.
