Very near the end of this model's production the Transporter Gift set which included the bronze Hillman Imp and maroon Rover 2000 was upgraded to feature models with cast wheels and these two were revised. There are very few around around and seldom come to light. Numbers are unknown but I would think that these are some of the rarest 'normal' Corgis from this era, by which I mean models that one might have bought at a local shop at the time, rather than a factory error or special production for a company. I would certainly expect fewer of these to have been made than the Pop Art Mini, for instance, although the price for that may be influenced by its almost iconic status nowadays while few people seem to be aware of these other little gems.
This is one of two I have in stock and neither are in great condition but that does give you a chance to fill that gap at less than the even more enormous price of a very clean one.
The paintwork is much-chipped and the front and side windows are clean and clear. There is a crack in the rear window. Unlike the Hillman Imp, these Rovers do have sound suspension and the cast wheels are cleaner than most, although these ones are becoming distinctly grey.
The base if clean and this is really all original, just a bit worn.
