With a sales record of more than 300,000 in Japan, the blockbuster S13 fell in the compact tax bracket until it was superseded in 1993 by the 6^th generation S14 Silvia. While inheriting similar basic proportions, the S14 featured a slightly rounded design that was the trend in Nissan sports cars at the time. This more mature style was intended to keep S13 drivers loyal to the Silvia as they themselves became older.
