The Royal airforce originally didn't see the value in a large heavily armed long range fighter, so the Beaufighter was originally progressed as a private venture, based on the Beaufort bomber and Torpedo bomber. However, with the war in Europe looking increasingly likely the Royal Airforceplaced an order before the prototype had even taken to the skies, a decision which was vindicated in the coming years. The Mk10 varientis certainly one of the most familier and was the final major production varient. Armed with a combination of rockets and cannon, and occasionally a torpedo the beaufighters of caostal comand took a heavey toll of axis shipping.
This model is brand new form the manufacturer and is being sold to raise funds towards the restoration fo BR Class 50 diesel, 50030 Repulse, based at Peak Rail.
